Lying about what you're doing is easy. Until it's not.
Aaron, the ghost haunting Louie's Gastropub, has become the bane of archivist Andrea Kelley's existence. She's been blocked at every turn by the inability to communicate with him, the glacial pace of historical research just to find a starting place to look for him, and her BFF, Detective William Taka's refusal to have anything more to do with ghosts.
With his job on the line, Taka's all too aware of his battered friendship when he hears dispatch sending cars to Louie's. After calling state cop Andrea's been dating, Taka has to daisy-chain texts to find out about the murdered woman Andrea found in the alley behind Louie's. Then he finds out she's been having their friends try out to replace him as her ghost megaphone-with no luck.
But with Aaron and the murdered woman connected in some way, Andrea has no choice but to investigate. And Taka has no real choice but to help her. They have to find a way to repair their friendship-before a killer tears them apart.
Southern Gothic meets Amateur Sleuth in a speculative fiction murder mystery. Typical violence for genre. LGTBQ. Diversity. Second book in series.
