(Educational Piano). Winner of Outstanding Music Education Print Resource from the 2026 Music and Drama Education Awards This stunning new collection features 20 previously unpublished piano works by Florence Price, ranging from intermediate to early advanced levels. Very little of her music was published in her lifetime (1887-1953) but hundreds of never-before seen manuscripts were found in 2009. While her music is firmly in the European tradition, influences of the American South and Black life are prevalent, as demonstrated by several titles in the collection, which was curated and edited by Dr. Michael Clark. Every piece chosen deserves to be widely known and performed. The book also features detailed critical notes by Clark, and a foreword by Dr. Leah Claiborne. From the judges' comments at the 2026 Music and Drama Education Awards: "The judges felt that Florence Price: Rediscovered Gems promoted diversity by highlighting African women composers and female representation, aligning with key themes for young people. They valued its celebration of well-crafted music of cultural significance, in a critical edition, and its contribution to the core repertoire."
