A Handful of Toads is the first in the 'Toad's Adventures' series. Full of humorous rural / family / Welsh stories set on a sheep farm in the 1980s. Beautifully illustrated. Will appeal to those who enjoyed the James Herriot Books.
Lynnette and her three sisters were born and raised in the southeast of England shortly after World War II, among those known as the 'Baby Boomers'. Her parents were hard-working and enterprising, giving their daughters a privileged life including new household inventions that were in their prime during the 1950s. She married her dynamic, country-born husband who introduced her to his life, which was a sharp contrast to her 'townie' upbringing. With three young children they moved to the Isle of Anglesey, or Ynys Môn, and discovered the joys and challenges of sheep farming while learning to integrate with the strongly Welsh community.
