People and places come and go, but the after-party never stops when it's 2AM Eternal.
Your host, Eric Kostiuk Williams, captures a decade of nightlife in Toronto’s queer community, from basements to the backstage to back rooms. Collecting one hundred event posters from 2012 to 2022, short comics stories, and hand-written notes from the author, the organizers, the performers, and the crowd, 2AM Eternal makes a scene – until last call. The pandemic prompts a series of posters for cancelled events, and a pivot to digital events in the days of lockdown, before the manic, uneasy re-emergence of face-to-face, wall-to-wall living.
- Pick a winner: Eric Kostiuk Williams is an Eisner, two-time Lambda Literary, and three-time Doug Wright Award finalist. His recent comics include Our Wretched Town Hall (Retrofit), Condo Heartbreak Disco (Koyama Press), and Babybel Wax Bodysuit (Retofit).
- The Bold and Beautiful: Eric’s posters sold over a hundred events in the past decade because his art sells itself, and it’s all here in its bold, colorful, over-sized glory.
- Omnipresence: Eric’s comics have been featured in Dazed & Confused Magazine, the Believer, Now Magazine, and Carousel Magazine. He has contributed to several music projects, including illustrated music videos for Owen Pallett’s singles “Paragon of Order” and “Fire-Mare”, and album artwork for Fucked Up’s Dose Your Dreams.
- Hometown Hero: Eric’s work has received support from the Canada Arts council and the Ontario Arts Council. He was the recipient of the 2018 Queer Press Grant for his graphic novella, Our Wretched Town Hall.
- Road Show: With a residency in San Francisco and a year-long tour, Eric Kostiuk Williams spreads the love on both coasts and the middle, in the US and Canada - and the posters in 2AM Eternal prove he can pack a house.
