Dr. Shuvashish Behera is a Scientist in the Department of Alcohol Technology and Biofuels at Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Pune, India. He obtained his Master and Ph.D degree in Microbiology, based on bioprocessing for ethanol production, and then worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in a MNRE funded project entitled "Process development for bioethanol production from agricultural residues, Phase-I: Development of process for co-fermentation of hexose and pentose sugars of agricultural residues”. He has also worked as project PI cum Young Scientist in a DST-SERB funded project entitled "Process development for enhanced biobutanol production using butanol-tolerant isolate” at SSS-National Institute of Bio-Energy, Punjab, India. He has also worked as the Associate Professor at Chandigarh University, Punjab, India. He has more than 13 years of research experience in liquid biofuels like bioethanol and biobutanol. He has more than 40 publications in different reputed National and International Journals and books, and has recently filed a provisional patent. His areas of interests are bioenergy, bioprocess engineering, enzyme technology and bioconversion of different feed-stocks to biofuels.

Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Guanajuato (Mexico) since 2017. Through his academic development, he has gained considerable experience in the area of synthesis, design, simulation, control and optimization of chemical processes. Currently published contributions focus on the production of biofuels and base chemicals in the chemical industry. He has currently published more than 25 articles in indexed journals, 6 book chapters from renowned publishers and has registered 2 patents.
