Study of History of Sigils and Symbols

Sigils are symbolic icons designed for a specific magical purpose. The Christian church acknowledged the sigil as an occult device originating in astrology. Traditionally, Sigils are line diagrams representing the signature of a planetary, angelic or demonic spirit used in the ceremonial magic developed during the Middle Ages and The Renaissance. Such Sigils were derived from the spirits themselves or divined by magicians using various numerological techniques. In modern times Chaos magicians employ Sigils as Monograms of Thought, psychological symbols of intent and desire, created by the conjuror in their personal quest of mystical exploration.
