Nano crystalline orthoferrite powders were synthesized at low temperatures by solution combustion synthesis using glycine as a fuel at different fuel to oxidizer ratios. During this process of combustion synthesis, more and less flames were observed at more fuel to oxidizer ratios. From X-ray diffraction, for instance the formation of a single phase of LaFeO3 with the perovskite structure was observed at lower calcination temperatures of 300°C. The lanthanum ferrite crystalline size is formed with orthorhombic structural and space group of the tolerance factor was observed. Excellent thermal stability and porosity were observed in that material from TG-DTA and SEM. Size effect of the optical properties on LaFeO3 were observed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, for the change in fuel to oxidizer ratios, the band gap energies are also observed to be varied. The orthorhombic structure of the perovskites is confirmed by the broad band and strong peaks at 551 to 554 cm-1 can be assigned to the asymmetrical stretching vibrations of Fe-O bonds of the structure¿s octahedrons FeO6.The investigation of magnetic properties showed super-paramagnetic nature.
