My husband, Norman, died on January 28, 2018. I wrote the first poem, "Norman and Family," in honor of him. (I actually wrote the short poem "Summer" a couple of weeks before, expressing my dislike of summer in our mountain area. I had been stung by yellow jackets six or seven times a few days earlier. Several people said I should publish it!)
I began writing more poems and found that I really enjoyed it. Some of the poems touch on events many are familiar with, such as the Great Depression, World War II, the World Series earthquake, and the turbulent sixties, which I share from my perspective. I hope you will find them entertaining, relatable, and fun to read.
Writing about my girlhood and also about our times as a family has made me more conscious than ever of how the Lord has blessed and has had his hand on me all my life. He has had his hand on our family as well, and we really did have a fun time together.
I feel privileged to share my life with you. I hope it blesses you.
